COVENTRY Buildbase Bees continue their KO Cup defence at Poole on Wednesday as they take a 13-point lead to Wimborne Road for their quarter-final second leg tie.
With a good performance on the South coast, that margin should be enough to take Bees into the last four - but they know it will be far from easy against the side immediately above them in the Elite League table.
World Champion Jason Crump will miss the match for Poole as he suffered a broken kneecap in a crash in Poland on Sunday - but the Pirates have obtained virtually the best possible replacement in Danish star Hans Andersen, who takes over their No.1 race-jacket.
Bees co-boss Peter Oakes said: "It won't be easy, and certainly there's no way the riders will feel that the job is done just because we have a 13-point lead - but we don't usually lose away matches by that amount, which gives us confidence.
"There may come a point where tactically you don't take a particular gamble based on the aggregate position, but essentially we go there with the attitude of starting at 0-0 and trying to win the meeting."
POOLE: Hans Andersen, Troy Batchelor, Bjarne Pedersen, Edward Kennett, Craig Boyce, Jason Doyle, Piotr Swist.
BUILDBASE BEES: Scott Nicholls, Olly Allen, Rory Schlein, Steve Johnston, Chris Harris, Billy Janniro, Martin Smolinski.
*BEES have confirmed that their home match against Swindon, rained-off last month, will now take place on Monday September 10. This means that the only Brandon fixture to re-schedule is the visit of Ipswich.
