COVENTRY legend Tommy Knudsen has donated several souvenirs from his career for auction with proceeds to the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund.
Knudsen rode for the Bees from 1979 to 1992 (missing 1989 due to injury) and captained the club to the British League title in both 1987 and 1988, having finished on the rostrum in the World Final at Wembley in 1981.
Various items will be available for auction at the Ben Fund Bonanza at Leicester on March 17, with more available at a subsequent meeting of the NSSC.
SRBF Chairman Paul Ackroyd said: "Tommy is donating many of his trophies and race-jackets to us, which is a great gesture. He is keeping a few but we are getting a good percentage, and the race-jackets will be signed.
“Our plan is to auction some of these during the Bonanza, then the remainder at a meeting of the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters’ Club on a date we will announce."
