ISSUE 8 of The Buzz magazine – and the final one for 2020 – will be launched on Monday November 23.
In the latest edition we catch up with Coventry’s most popular showmen of the modern era, German star Martin Smolinski who was part of the club’s trophy-winning run of success in the mid-2000s.
Smolinski talks about how he was first brought to Brandon, his early dealings with promoter Colin Pratt, his team-mates with the Bees – and also his plans for the future after an injury-wrecked 2020 season.
We have a full look back on one of the club’s toughest-ever seasons, 2004, when wins were hard to come by but at least the foundations were put in place for the years to come.
There was better news at the end of the 1981 campaign when the Bees went head-to-head with rivals Cradley Heath as they looked to complete a trophy double, with the second leg of the Midland Cup Final featuring in our Programme Vault section – and, as usual, the comments of promoter Charles Ochiltree are well worth a read, even nearly 40 years on!
We also look ahead to the launch of Kelvin Tatum’s autobiography, plus of course the latest from the Campaign with another planning application expected to be submitted for Brandon in the near future.
This will be the last magazine of the year as we take a break over the festive period, and we thank everyone for their support as we’ve been able to re-live some great memories throughout 2020.
