The Buildbase Bees had struggled in the early weeks of the season, losing four of their opening five league matches, in contrast to the Pirates who were nailed-on favourites to take the title.
And Coventry’s mood was hardly helped when they crashed to a thumping 29-60 defeat at Wimborne Road 48 hours earlier.
However, meetings between the Bees and the Pirates were rarely routine affairs, and that was certainly the case here.
Coventry operated rider-replacement for the injured Kacper Woryna, whilst Poole used the same facility for an unwell Brady Kurtz, and Fredrik Lindgren guested at No.1 for Chris Holder who had a clashing fixture in Poland.
All expectations based on the form guide were for a big away win… join us from 7.30pm for a reminder of what happened!
