RUGBY Borough Council have approved a Notice of Motion regarding Brandon Stadium.
The motion was carried at a full Council meeting on Wednesday evening, having been proposed by Councillor Tony Gillias and seconded by Councillor Sebastian Lowe, who is also the Leader of the Council.
It called for the Council, given the overwhelming public desire for the stadium to be re-opened for its proper use as a sports venue, to explore available options to bring it back into use, and any likely public advantages to the local and wider communities should this be achievable.
Both Cllr Gillias and Cllr Lowe spoke strongly in favour of the motion, and during the ensuing discussion it was also pleasing to note there was cross-party support with Cllr Michael Moran offering his own experience to assist the cause.
We would like to thank the Council members for enabling the motion to be carried, following on from the unanimous refusal of the Brandon Estates planning application by members of that committee last month. These are two highly significant recent outcomes to take place in the Council chamber.
As a Campaign Group we look forward to discussing the matters arising from the Notice of Motion and providing any relevant information required.
