This became one of the most talked-about meetings for many years at Brandon especially for one race in particular!
Background to the meeting was that Bees were sitting third in the Elite League table, level on points with leaders Wolverhampton and second-placed Swindon.
However, they had suffered a heavy 59-35 defeat at the East of England Showground four days earlier and were keen to turn the tables on the Panthers, who were four points behind in the league standings.
And there was an injury setback as Ben Barker, who had started his first Elite League season in good form, suffered a broken leg during a World Under-21 qualifier in Germany.
Bees operated the rider-replacement facility at No.2 as they looked to bounce back from a home defeat to Swindon last time out on their own circuit.
The Panthers were at full-strength, and tracked future Coventry rider Kenneth Hansen at reserve. The Dane was on an average of just 3.57 but had suddenly hit a rich vein of form - and he would play a vital role in the meeting!
If you remember this meeting you'll certainly want to see it again... if you don't remember it, don't miss it on Friday!!!
